Recently, 40 Chinese teenagers from the UK, Germany, Canada and other countries came to Fenghuang Ancient Town of Xiangxi Prefecture to visit the former residence of Shen Congwen, a photo-shooting tourist attraction and the Beimen pier. In the first half of this year, Fenghuang County attracted 105,873 overseas tourists, an increase of 180% year on year.
While taking a boat on the Tuojiang River, these Chinese teenagers enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the ancient town. “I visited many places that I couldn’t forget. This experience will be a precious memory for me and I will share it with my family and friends,” one of them said.
Fenghuang Ancient Town was once praised as “the most beautiful small town in China” by Alley Rewi, a New Zealand writer. The total area of the tourist area is about 4.39 square kilometers, with ancient Miao buildings on both sides of the river.
In recent years, the local government has worked to upgrade the tourism environment, standardize the tourism market, and improve tourism service facilities.
At the beginning of this year, the ancient town was rated as a national 5A tourist area. Tongren Fenghuang Airport was officially opened to the public. More and more overseas tourists come to Fenghuang Ancient Town for travel.
